COMPOST & RECYCLE

Our culinary team composts pre-consumer waste, such as scraps and trimmings from fruits and vegetables during food preparation. We also recycle boxes and aluminum cans from deliveries. We also make it easy to sort waste properly with clearly marked compost and recycling stations. Together, we can divert waste from landfills and return nutrients to the earth.

CHOOSE TO REUSE

We have a to-go reusable container program to minimize waste and maximize convenience. Please remember to return your dishes to help us reduce our environmental impact!

  • Return your used container to be cleaned and receive a clean container or a token to use for later

REDUCE FOOD WASTE

In the kitchen, food is batch-cooked as needed to ensure freshness and manage waste levels. In the dining hall, individuals are encouraged to take portions they expect to eat, with the option to get more if needed.

"Love the vegan pizza today!! Everything was hitting. First of all I loved the vegan cheese. Second the sauce was delicious, don't know if that was a new recipe but I felt it was more flavorful and peppery. Also LOVED the pepperoni! I haven't seen that before but would love to see it again, it was fantastic"

"Everyone involved in this operation is very kind and competent, and it makes the dining hall feel like a very comfortable, homey space—it could be stressful to wake up late and go to breakfast in the same room where your professors are eating lunch, but the Simon's Rock atmosphere and more specifically the enthusiasm with which the dining staff interact with students and faculty/admin alike means it ends up being a very lovely community space."
